Spring Cleaning: Where to Donate in LA

Spring is finally here, and you know what that means – time to tackle the clutter and give our living spaces a much-needed refresh! Whether it's making room for those new spring wardrobe essentials or livening up our homes with some fresh decor, it's inevitable that we'll need to say goodbye to some old stuff along the way. I recently dove into a full-on closet overhaul and ended up donating bags of clothes. It felt amazing to clear out the excess and create some breathing room, both in my home and in my head. So, if you're gearing up for some spring cleaning and looking to lighten your load, here are a few places where you can donate or sell those items you no longer need.

American Cancer Society Discovery Shop

There are several locations around Los Angeles, including in Sherman Oaks, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills. You can find your nearest drop off location here.

Downtown Women’s Center

Located at 442 S. San Pedro Street, the women’s center is always looking for donations. All donations drop-offs must be scheduled. You can schedule a drop-off here.  Donation drop-offs can be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

Goodwill

There are several Goodwill locations around Los Angeles. You can click here to find your nearest donation center.

National Council of Jewish Women

Hope of The Valley Help Center

The HELP Center is an access center in Van Nuys for homeless individuals. You can either schedule a pick up of your donation items, or drop them off in person.

Dresscue

If you have some nicer items that you’d like to sell, you can rent a rack at Dresscue. This “rent-a-rack” concept has been popular in Nordic countries for years, and the founders of Dresscue brought it to LA and recently opened a store in Studio City on Ventura Boulevard.

As you gather your donations, remember to inspect items for any damages or stains and clean them before donating, if possible. Some organizations may have specific guidelines or restrictions on what they can accept, so it's always a good idea to check their donation policies beforehand.

These are just a few donation places around LA, but of course I am always looking for more places to donate! So if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them. Happy decluttering and donating!
